July - A time for ...

... moving on. Saying good bye to some old and loved friends off to pastures new. Thanks for all the joy and laughter you gave to us.

...encouraging creativity. We try to get them young in our family! This is my eight year old niece Sofia who asked for a sewing machine for her birthday. Bright pink too! This is her first project, a fairy bag, of which she is rightly very proud. :)

She is a wizz on the machine and has now made a pony. My friend Steve says she has 'stash stealer' written all over her face! I think he's probably right!

...relaxing. While Sofia and I have been busy the four legged members of the family have been taking it easy.

Dan, although completely blind, has managed to find the newly placed comfy chair in the kitchen.

... reading. I have two new books on my shelf this month. 'Treasured Notions' by Kaari Meng

and 'the homemade home' by Sania Pell. Both gorgeous books which I would highly recommend.

... entertaining. Then came my youngest daughters 'Pre-Prom party'. (Did I really have that many in my house?) Some of these 18 year olds I have known since they were babies. I can't quite believe they are all going off into the world now. How time flies by.

...celebrating. Then it was off to the University of Birmingham for my eldest daughters graduation. We all had a wonderful day. I feel truly blessed to have such great kids. (Now will you tidy your rooms?!!)

... getting mail. I received this lovely thank you card. It was such a joy to get it through the post. (Note to self - send cards not emails - so much nicer to receive)

...taking time to smell the flowers. Beaming! How perfect is that?

...acceptance. After finally finding a buyer for the house (joy!) and then loosing said buyer 8 hours later (sorrow) I took myself off to Derbyshire to centre myself again and the daisies were waiting to make me smile and remind me of the good things out there.

...moving on. This is on my road to peace.
Hope you are on yours. xxx

The Best Of Birthdays x

This was one day I wasn't particularly looking forward to this year. But it turned out to be one of the best birthdays I've ever had!

It started with birthday banners, balloons and
lots of pressies to open full of special gifts.

Then a surprise bouquet arrived :) Beautiful x Then off I went with a friend to one of my favourite places Decorative Country Living.

I actually ran out of vases by the end of the day! The house smells lovely.

Heartfelt cards with words that meant so much.

And daisies. There always has to be daisies. My garden is full of them this year and they make
me smile everyday. :)

Lots of friends for the tea party. Suzanne has been my friend from our first day at school 42 years ago.

Ahh delicious cakes made by my Rosie Roo ... Yum
To all of my family, friends and facebook pals I would like to say a great big thank you for making it such a fab day xxx

Daisy Moon at the Beach

My recent trip away has been such a life saver.

To fall asleep listening to the waves on the shore and wake up to this magical view.

So many individual shops to explore and a few favourites.

I found a gallery full of wonderful paintings and this is the place of my dreams. A small place by the sea with a daisy trail to the front door.

St Ives has so many pretty little side streets with colourful boxed gardens.

And then there was the beach... I can't remember the last time I felt such peace. Just spending time watching my friends little boy playing and exploring his new surroundings. Searching for sea glass and small pieces of driftwood. Feeling the sand between my toes. Memories of childhood...magical.

The hedgerows were full of beautiful dainty flowers...

...and pathways that lead to ...
... secret gardens. A little piece of heaven on earth.

Enjoy your evening my blog friends. x

New Beginnings x

Many things in my life have changed recently. Some for the good others are sad partings.

It has lead me to ask certain questions of myself. Taking me back to being a little girl and the things I believed in then and the things I value now.

The people in life that are precious and who are always there no matter what with their constant support and love.

It has all helped to make me shine again when I thought there was no shiny me left.

I have questioned my view of me and of who I am.

And of what I now wish for my life ahead.

All of life's experiences are lessons that we can hopefully learn a great deal from.

Then move forward with new and exciting knowledge of horizons to be explored.

I am beginning to understand why these things have happened.

And I am now ready for my new beginnings. Enjoy yours. x

Back to business - A recent car boot visit.

You know how it is. Sometimes you get up at the crack of dawn, throw on some clothes and rush off to the nearest car boot sale. You walk round eagle eyed only to return home with absolutely nothing! But not this week! Look at these goodies. :)

Lucky for me it started off with the suitcase complete with tags and labels.

Oh Naples looks fab.

Then I came across this old artist box with lots of compartments inside.

Linens, old tape measures and a plastic quilted peg bag still in its packet. (This item was just so kitsch I just had to buy it!)

Next came the beautiful pink glass bowls and rose china dish.

And finally this wonderful old wooden truck.
What a morning! Thank you booty people.

A Big Thank You x

I wanted to say a big thank you to all my friends, family and blog pals for all the wonderful support you have shown me over the last three weeks. I have been overwhelmed with all the calls, texts, messages and daily acts of kindness. Although I now find myself in a place I never expected to be with all your help I can now see the sunshine ahead through the clouds. x
