Where are you going Daisy?

I was packing, honestly ... but then I found a jar of letters
and I started to play instead!
BACK TO WORK!

I seem quite unable to throw away a Country Living
magazine. Consequently I now have three large
boxes full of them that are so heavy I now need
a forklift truck to move them!

Boxes of rainbow colours ...

and a 'small' collection of ribbons have been packed away with ...

tins and jars of buttons ...

and vintage dolly dresses.

A treasure box to open again soon.

Oh and not forgetting my tutu!

Enjoy your weekend. Guess what I'll be doing? :)

Treasure hunt

This week Rosie and I have been on a treasure hunt
to Matlock in Derbyshire.
We went in search of a large old book for
Rosie who is off back to Northampton Uni on Sunday.
No such book was to be found but I did manage to pick
up a few treasures while searching.

Rosie found this wonderful childrens blackboard.
I could just see Daisy Moons opening hours written on it.

For a long time I have been searching for a large frame
to play with. I have a few ideas up my sleeve for this beauty.
I will blog later on this ones update.

I can never resist an old Beatrix Potter book or two either!

Then I found this beauty, a little late perhaps
or very early but either way it had to come home with me.

I love books that have hand written messages inside.

The front and back inside covers are just beautiful.

As are the illustrations.

The last purchase of the day was this super soft woollen blanket
in rose pink. I am going to edge it in eiderdown fabric and
use it to snuggle in while watching the tv.

Enjoy the rest of the evening.

A Vintage Merry Christmas to you and yours

Whilst packing I have found a few vintage Christmas cards.

I've picked them up from various antique fairs over the years.

I love their originality.

I bought this one because of the embossed daisies and the moon.
Perfect for me!

Happy robins and

village scenes.

I just love this illustration.

Simplicity ...

surviving all these years ...

kept safe so they can be shared again years later.
This one means more than any other and made me cry
when I found it.

It was written by a soldier stationed in France in 1917.
The Christmas greeting filled with love and hope.

For all those soldiers who are away from their families
I wish you a safe and peaceful Christmas
wherever you are in the world.

For all my blogging friends I wish you ....

This is really what it's all about .... isn't it?

I love blogging.
I love being part of this community.
For most of the time it's about sharing small
parts of our lives with others.
But, for me and many others, today is about

Jane, like many other people, is going through a
really tough time at the moment.
Martha at Jelly Shane
has come up with a plan.
Please read it.
Do it.
Post it.
Share it.
As this is really what it's all about .......isn't it?

Hugs

As promised

I woke up early this morning
to this spectacular blue sky
with Venus (I think!)
shining in the south east.

Then downstairs to put on all the twinkly lights
and make a coffee.

Yesterday I promised Jayne and Linda
I would post photos of some boxes
I've been making from old sheet music...

and glued onto card and covered with pva glue to seal them.

Then cut, stamped and stuck together.

I needed a few!

To display my flower brooches.

All going to live at Nellie in the Shed.

All handmade and individual.

Stitched using a mixture of fabrics, vintage, feedsack and
a collection from French General

I've also made some book covers
tied with ribbon and a few other bits
that I will post at a later date.

Back to the sewing.
Enjoy your afternoon.

Snow stopped play

Today I should have been taking some of my wares to this lovely little shop.
Sadly though, as I can't get off my driveway,
they will have to stay with me a little longer.

Enjoy your visit.

Winter wonderland - Day 3

Morning from sunny Nottinghamshire!

The snowflakes have been falling all night
and we are now about 25cm deep in snow.
But it does look so beautiful.

It must have all been a bit confusing for poor old Dan
who is totally blind and usually has no problem running
round the garden.

I am loving my new camera
as I can even capture snowflakes
on the window.

The north facing windows look
like they've been dressed for
a Charles Dickens film.

At least I can enjoy another day sewing.
This is my case of extra special precious fabric!

One off pieces of history
that have all come together
to be made into something beautiful again.

So all yesterday, while watching my Christmas DVD collection,
I sat and hand sewed these petals.

When completed they will become a pretty gift
for someone. A bit of colour in this white wonderland.

Almost completed.
I will post the finished ones tomorrow.

Enjoy the snow and stay safe.
