Daisy's catch up - The week of the lurgy

I seem recently to have lost my bloggy words.

I have no explanation or excuse.

Just a loss of bloggy words.

I did manage to take photos though.

So the next few posts will be a catch up of

the last month or so and I begin with the 

week of the lurgy.

I got a horrible cold and conjunctivitis 

and spent two days with no energy in the comfy chair.

I missed a visit to the Country Living Fair so

to cheer myself up I had a sort and a play with

my bestest bits.

I tidied up the fabrics into piles

Separated the ribbons and buttons...

the small snippets of fabric (which I can never throw away!)

and the threads and lace.

Then I started to make.

This treasured bit of quilt was rediscovered in the tidy up.

So I embroidered some lovely words on it and hung it on the wall.

A Jessie Chorley inspired clock brooch made with

an antique quilt and some floral vintage fabric.

I also made a little rabbit from another piece of quilt and some

vintage linen.

Inspired this time by Julie Arkell.

Another bunny with a knitted jumper.

Then finally I made this brooch with vintage fabric and buttons.

My Birthday

I've uploaded lots of recent photos today to share

with you all.  Here are a some of my birthday pressies.

While I went to Cornwall Steve went to London for a weekend

with his daughter Hayley.  Look what came back with him!

All my presents were not only wrapped in fabric but

hand sewn at each end and then tied with pink rafia!

VINTAGE BUTTONS!!!

from Liberty

These are french mother of pearl buttons from the 1950's

These are plastic ones from the 1970's

These are 1920's cut glass.

SQUEAL OUT LOUD!

These red spotty buttons are

hand painted and from West Germany late 1940's

But it didn't end there.  I also got a

metre of Liberty fabric and

this gorgeous duck egg blue scarf.

What a man!

My friends bought me a  beautiful red Liberty scarf.

My girly whirlys got me a super set of CK tins...

and a fab french notebook.

This lantern came from my mate Kate.

Amy and Rosie also got me this floral jug.

(They spoil their Marmah rotten.)

Rosie made Lemon Meringue cup cakes to sit

on a pink cake stand from my Mum. (They didn't last long!)

So light and dreamy. Yum!

I was truly touched to receive this.

Steve doesn't buy cards (don't go there!)

So instead he made me one.

Big Smile. :)

Recent purchases - this and that

Morning all.

I seem to have a back log of photos to

share with you of recent treasure finds

so I've divided them into themes!

(Me thinks I may be purchasing too much stuff!)

Apologies for any misbehaviour from my photos

and text.  They are a law unto themselves today.

First up is this delicate pink ric rac and lace.

All for the bargin price of £2.00.

                                                        

Popper beads from my childhood...

and a bag of  little assorted  flowers.                                   

      A bag of antique blue buttons.

      These lovely old luggage labels.

    This is my favourite find. I spotted the ribbon first.

    

On closer inspection it turned out to be Victorian.

                                                                

      Faded but oh so beautiful.

   I have no idea what to do with it yet but it deserves to be somewhere special.

  I plan to make new bits of  jewellery with these.

 A pretty blue floral box.

   Finally for today a bag of bits including this name tape.

  I wonder who she was?

     And yet more buttons!
