Keep Calm and Carry On ...

Last weekend was the big move and I've managed to get
the dreaded lergy.

But being a woman I have soldiered on and with much help
from friends, family and Night Nurse
we are now in our new home.
Now I just have to finish emptying the old one!
I shall return when lergy free and the nice Sky man has
been to connect me back up to the outside world.
Have a wonderful weekend folks.

Just a quick 'hello' x

We are finally moving in this Saturday!
Here is a quick glimpse of the kitchen.
As you can see I've moved in all the practical things first!

Here are my bargain price hyacinths that I purchased along
side two new toilet seats! Let me tell you it made the
whole trip worth it. :)
The smell that greets you as you open the door is just heavenly.

So pretty and perfect ...

and beginning to feel a lot like home.
Thanks for reading.
Enjoy your evening.

Sanity in a world of chaos

I bought this kit at the Festival of Quilts in 2009.
Whilst sorting last week I unearthed it and decided ....

that in my world of chaos I could do with something
to focus on that wasn't to do with moving.

These are some of the fabrics all
created in a 1950's style.

I needed to make 42 yo-yo's or
Suffolk puffs if you prefer.

It was a bit of a doddle with my helpful gadget!

Place fabric between the two pieces of plastic.
Trim the fabric and sew up and down through the
marked holes.
Remove plastic and gather up the circle.
Simples as a certain Meerkat would say!

Here are a few of the 42 finished.

Have a lovely Sunday.

Where are you going Daisy?

I was packing, honestly ... but then I found a jar of letters
and I started to play instead!
BACK TO WORK!

I seem quite unable to throw away a Country Living
magazine. Consequently I now have three large
boxes full of them that are so heavy I now need
a forklift truck to move them!

Boxes of rainbow colours ...

and a 'small' collection of ribbons have been packed away with ...

tins and jars of buttons ...

and vintage dolly dresses.

A treasure box to open again soon.

Oh and not forgetting my tutu!

Enjoy your weekend. Guess what I'll be doing? :)

Treasure hunt

This week Rosie and I have been on a treasure hunt
to Matlock in Derbyshire.
We went in search of a large old book for
Rosie who is off back to Northampton Uni on Sunday.
No such book was to be found but I did manage to pick
up a few treasures while searching.

Rosie found this wonderful childrens blackboard.
I could just see Daisy Moons opening hours written on it.

For a long time I have been searching for a large frame
to play with. I have a few ideas up my sleeve for this beauty.
I will blog later on this ones update.

I can never resist an old Beatrix Potter book or two either!

Then I found this beauty, a little late perhaps
or very early but either way it had to come home with me.

I love books that have hand written messages inside.

The front and back inside covers are just beautiful.

As are the illustrations.

The last purchase of the day was this super soft woollen blanket
in rose pink. I am going to edge it in eiderdown fabric and
use it to snuggle in while watching the tv.

Enjoy the rest of the evening.
